How to Update Look Series Without Losing Your Place in Every Series
Over the top, always: the update route that protects your progress, plus the app's own update check in Settings.

EPISODE LIST On this page
Your progress in a dozen series lives inside your Look Series install, which makes updating the one operation worth doing carefully. This guide is the careful route; the current file is always the one on the Look Series download page.
The over-the-top rule
Download the new file from the download page and install it directly over your existing copy. Never uninstall first. Everything that makes the app yours, your place in every episode, your recommendation history, lives with the installed app and carries across an over-the-top update untouched. The permission flow is the same one from the install guide: if Android asks you to allow installs from your browser again after a browser update, grant it and carry on.
The in-app check
The Settings screen carries a Check for updates row that shows your current Look Series version and looks for newer builds. Use it to know where you stand; use this page's file to do the updating, so the build you install is the verified one.
How often to update, honestly
Not every build needs chasing the hour it lands. Look Series updates for service compatibility, catalog plumbing and polish more often than for headline features, so a sane rhythm is: update when the in-app check mentions one and you are on Wi-Fi, or monthly alongside the cache clear, whichever comes first. The exception is symptoms. Missing series, stale charts or playback quirks on an old build are version problems until proven innocent, and the over-the-top update is their first fix. What never helps is the anxious uninstall and reinstall some viewers attempt as a cure-all; it treats nothing and costs the one thing this page exists to protect.
After updating
Open a series you are mid-way through and confirm your place held (it will), then browse the New List: updates and fresh catalog arrivals are happiest discovered together. If your place ever is missing after an update, do not keep tapping around; the progress recovery guide explains the three events that actually erase progress, how to tell which one happened, and the five-minute method for finding your episode again.
If an update ever misbehaves
Rare, but the order of response matters. First, clear the cache in Settings and reopen the app; a new build reading an old cache is the classic cause of post-update strangeness, and the clear is free and safe. Second, restart the phone, which resolves more update weirdness than any other single act. Third, if the behaviour persists, install the current file over the top once more, which replaces the build without touching your progress, because the install is not the memory. What not to do is the panic uninstall: it converts a ten-minute glitch into a lost season of bookmarks, and it fixes nothing the gentler steps would not have fixed first.
Quick Answers
Will updating delete my progress?
Not with the over-the-top method. Uninstalling first is the only route that loses it, and it is never necessary.
How do I know my current version?
Settings, Check for updates: the current version is printed right there.
Should I update mid-series?
Yes, confidently. Our own review process updates mid-series on purpose to prove progress survives.
